Woodland Walk Stream Update

18th of August, 2026

The Parish Council would like to make residents aware that concerns have been raised regarding the watercourse running through Woodland Walk.

Reports have been received of water showing signs of discolouration and odour, and the matter has been referred to the relevant authorities, including the Environment Agency, Burnley Borough Council, United Utilities and Lancashire County Council for investigation.

At this stage, no official test results are available, and no agency has confirmed the presence of pollution. However, whilst investigations are ongoing, we would encourage residents to take sensible precautions when using the Woodland Walk area.

Dog walkers are advised to prevent dogs from entering or drinking from the stream where possible.

Walkers and visitors should take care when passing through affected areas and avoid contact with the water.

The Parish Council has carried out its duty by reporting the matter and continues to actively pursue updates from the relevant agencies. Further information will be shared as soon as official findings become available.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
